About this tour

Sar Pass is a perfect trek for beginners. This moderate trek starts from 1650 meters and raises to an altitude of 4180 meters. Although the climb is tiring at times but one gets rewarded by beautiful meadows, quaint villages, breath-taking views of snow-covered mountains and the amazing slide after the pass. This trail offers a gamut of experiences to trekkers. The trek demands a level of fitness and the minimum age is 14 years to participate.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Kasol arrival

Up on arrival at Kasol camp (located near Hotel Blue Diamond), check in and freshen up. Post breakfast, all the participants will be required to undergo registration procedure. Post lunch; you will be take on acclimatization walk to Chalal village. Enjoy the walk and get back to the campsite. In the evening; all the participants will be receiving orientation from our representative. Overnight in Kasol Campsite

Day 2 - Trek to Grahan village (4-5 hours)

Start early and get ready for the trek. The trek will commence at 7 am from Kasol to Grahan village. This beautiful trek starts from centre of Kasol. From here the trail is called Grahan nalah, where the trail leads you through pine forests.  Ascent is gentle and easy, often used by the locals. Once past Grahan Nalah, the trail becomes a bit rocky and the ascent becomes uphill; after a steep climb for over an hour, you will reach Grahan village. Once the tents are set up, you can relax for the day. Overnight in the tents at Grahan village

Day 3 - Grahan to Mung Thach (5-6 hours)

Trek will start in the morning towards the north of Grahan village. You will proceed in the same trail as the locals who use it to get to Mung Thach. The path leading to Mung Thach is a bit tricky and confusing, as it gets steeper at every step and leads you to the woods. Enjoy the nature trails leading to the woods. As you climb, you will witness Mung Thach, Nagaru and Sar peak on the top of the mountain towards the right. This stunning yet a tricky path will lead you to a rather exhausting 6 hour trek to Mung Thach. Up on arrival; relax in the tents. Overnight in Mung Thach

Day 4 - Mung Thach to Nagaru (4 hours)

Post breakfast; the trek to Nagaru will start. Although the distance is short from Mung Thach to Nagaru, the path is quiet difficult. It requires one to carefully climb the steepy slopes for a couple of hours. These slopes directly fall in to the valley, thus it is considered to be tricky yet exciting for the trekkers. Up on reaching Nagaru campsite; you will be overlooking parvati valley on the north. This magnificent sight is truly amazing. It is also very cold up in the campsite; it is advisable for you to sleep early and walking up early the next day; as you will have to start early for the trek next day.

Day 5 - Nagaru to Biskeri Thach via Sar Pass

Start early today. You will be climbing a steep snowy path. This path will take you to some exhilarating points where you will gasp at every step, not because of the climb but for the breath-taking landscapes. Sar Pass and elevated peak of Tosh valley will be visible after a while. And once you reach the top, enjoy the stunning views and take lots of picture. After catching some breath, the fun begins. You will be sliding through the snow into the valley as along as some precautions are taken care. This slide takes one for a kilometre distance towards the valley. Once the valley arrives, dust yourself up and start walking for about an hour. This path will take you through dense Rhododendron bushes towards Biskeri Thach. Up on arrival; relax in the campsite. Overnight in the tent at Biskeri Thach

 

Day 6 - Biskeri Thach to Barshaini and drive back to Kasol base camp (4-5 hours). Departure

Biskeri Thach presents a beautiful view of Pine forests, mighty mountains and lovely grasslands. Today will the last day of your trek. Descend towards Pulga village – takes about 4-5 hours. From Pulga you will process further down towards Parvati River and then climb and reach Barshini village. From here you will be take a ride back to Kasol base campsite. Up on arrival; say your good byes and leave for home.

Mandatory Documents for the trek:

Medical Certificate (signed by a registered MBBS doctor)

NOC form (by trekker)

Original and photocopy of government photo identity card- (Aadhar card/Driving License/Passport)

 

Cancellation Policy

If cancellation done prior to 30 days of outing 75% will be refunded.
If cancellation done prior to 15 days of outing 50% will be refunded.
After that no refund will be provided. 

FAQ's

How to reach Kasol:

There are many buses that leave to Manali/Kullu from Delhi/Chandigarh. You must get down at Bhuntar (which is about 10 km before Kullu). From Bhuntar you will have to take a bus or taxi to Hotel Blue Diamond; one has to follow the landmark shared by us to reach Kasol campsite. Between 5 pm – 9 pm from Delhi, there are several bus options one can take to get to Kasol.

Things to Carry

Trekking shoes: Do not carry a Sports Shoe. Carry good trekking shoes with grip. Make sure it is a water proof trekking shoes with ankle support.

Three layers of warm clothes: Two or three-layer jackets, fleece jacket and a padded jacket

Two/Three trek pants: Carry light cotton trek pants. Avoid denim/jeans and shorts. They are not suitable for trekking.

Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit): It is advisable to carry a Full sleeved t-shirts to prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.

Thermals: Carry thermals (top and bottom).

Sunglasses: There will be lot of snow on the trek which can cause snow blindness. Thus Sunglasses are mandatory.

Cap: At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect you.

Water proof hand gloves: Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.

Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks: Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.

Headlamp/LED torch: Mandatory

Raincoat/Ponchos: At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall. Your poncho should protect you rain. Carry a backpack cover for extra protection from rain for your belongings.

Lunch box and water bottle: Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].
